This Thursday, January 9, will be a national day of mourning for the late former president Jimmy Carter, who died on December at the age of 100.
In making the declaration, President Joseph Biden ordered flags to be flown at half-staff for a period of 30 days following Carter’s death.
Carter’s official state funeral will be held on January 9 at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Biden called on the American people to assemble that day “in their respective places of worship” to pay homage to the late president.
